Sporting Rifle (Small Arms)

A type of small arms weapon generally fed from a box magazine and capable of being fired in single shot or semi-automatic. Sporting rifles are by far the most popular weapon's found in the United States. Consisting of bolt action rifles through the widely popular AR-15 rifles, they are chambered in everything from .177cal to larger than 50BMG and serve a variety of purposes from general ranching duties to large game hunting and 3Gun sports. In popular media semi-automatic sporting rifles are frequently misrepresented as assault rifles or machine guns due to some visual similarities and various political agendas.
